How do I know if it's a roof leak or condensation?
A roof leak shows up during or right after rain in one area, usually near a chimney, vent, valley or skylight, while attic condensation shows up on cold, dry days, often as frost on nails, damp insulation spread across the attic, or drips when the frost melts. Condensation is caused by warm, moist air from the house reaching a cold attic, usually because of poor ventilation or bathroom and dryer vents exhausting into the attic.
